Ecuador is a small country yet is uniquely endowed with a dramatic topography and a variety of climatic zones, vegetation and wildlife. It lies on the Equatorial Line along the northwestern coast of South America.

Ecuador offers four distinct regions: Andean highlands, where Quito, the capital is located; Mysterious tropical jungles of the Amazon; Rainforest, coastal plains, where Guayaquil, the second largest city, is located; the enchanting Galapagos Islands, located 600 miles west of the continent. This archipelago consists of thirteen major islands and 40 some smaller rock formations and reefs spread over 17,000 square miles of ocean.
